Half-price Shiraz and a great Chard deliver big savings
This
week we're all about the down under, with two new treats from
Australia. Both come from historic Australian wineries and
both offer classic tastes of classic grapes. In just under 40
years, Rosemount Estate has established its place in
Australian wines, planting vineyard sites around Australia
that take advantage of the varied soils and regional climates.
One of their original sites, the Hill of Gold vineyard in
Mudgee lies in the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range.
This Shiraz has a deep, rich color, immediately indicating an
impressive concentration of flavors. There are intense spicy
aromas with a deep core of plummy, peppery fruit. The palate
reveals velvety, ripe, fine-grained tannins, in harmony with
the oak and seductively spicy fruit. The finish is rich and
long, with cinnamon, cloves and wild fruit notes. This wine is
truly impressive - especially at this price! - and will
continue to age well for another five to eight years.
ROSEMOUNT
ESTATE HILL OF GOLD SHIRAZ 2004, Mudgee Australia
$7.97 (regular $15.95)
 Penfolds
was founded in 1845 by Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold.Like
many doctors before and since, Dr. Penfold had a firm belief
in the medicinal value of wine. Before he left Britain he
had obtained vine cuttings from the south of France and
these were planted around the site of the modest stone
cottage he built with his wife, Mary, at Magill on the
outskirts of Adelaide. The Thomas Hyland line is named in
honor of Dr. Penfold's son-in-law. This Chardonnay offers
loads of creamy and toasted oak flavors followed by hints of
lemon custard, and caramelized green apple.

Innocently addictive
 Ok.
So Jenny and Carrie are good people. They didn't want to
start a foodie cult or an addictive phenomenon in Carrie's
mother's kitchen all those years ago. They just had a simple
idea to create a simple nut confection with 100% flavor and
zero pretention. In the face of "exotic" gourmet nut snacks,
Jenny and Carrie went back to basics and began using real
ingredients to infuse their now famous, award winning,
Nutorious nut confections, made in Green Bay!
Every batch of nuts is lovingly handmade by the duo and is
tested to their high standards for flavor, crunch and the
big question, "Can you try one without finishing the bag?"
If the answer is yes, then we admire your self-control.
Prepare to indulge in your own Nutorious moment. Every bag
is packed with flavor and full of goodness with Omega 3, all
natural ingredients and zero trans fat.
Cranberry Orango Tango is a refreshing
blend of walnuts, almonds, pecans and dried cranberries in a
delicate orange confection. Cha Cha Chipotle
is a sassy blend of walnuts, almonds and pecans in a
slightly sweet, slightly spicy confection. Great on salads,
best with a cold beer.

A better beer to match the fall weather
 Samuel
Adams was founded by Jim Koch in 1984, back when most folks
saw Anheuser-Busch and Miller as the standard bearers for
beer and the 'better beer' category only included pricey
imports. Today there are dozens of microbreweries out there
and Sam Adams has grown to become a company of 350 employees
with over a dozen styles of beer to choose from. But their
Cherry Wheat is my ideal beer for fall. It puts Michigan
cherries together with a touch of honey to create a sweet,
refreshing beer that is light on the palate but long on
complexity. The sweet fruitiness of the cherries is balanced
against the crisp, cereal note from the malted wheat and the
subtle citrus flavor from the hops - perfect for tailgating.
Due to shipping limitations, we are unable to sell this item
online, but you can order it via email and we will hold it
for you to pick up in our store.
