Super Piedmont Blend
 Guiseppe
and Lidia Rivetti got married and began to make wine in
1977. They took up residence at La Spinetta (top of the
hill) in Castagnole Lanze, the heart of Moscato d'Asti
country, dedicated to proving that Moscato had the potential
for greatness. They began making red wine in 1985, and over
the years many great reds have followed. The wine
find of the week is a red blend they call Pin,
Guiseppe's nickname. This red is comprised of 65% Nebbiolo
from their Barbaresco vineyard and 35% Barbera, from their
Castagnole location.
 This
stunning wine is deep dark red in color with complex
aromatics. Exotic and luxuriously textured, it has notes of
black plum, currants and black cherry; smoke and spice
reveal the influence of well-integrated barrique use.

Dazzling Pecota Cabernet

When Robert Pecota visited us a couple of Saturdays ago, he
brought along a lot of great stories and lots of great wine.
He brought a very limited number of a particularly good
Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Kara's Vineyard, named for
Robert's eldest daughter, Kara Pecota Dunn. Everyone who
tried the wine loved it, and you will too, guaranteed!
Wonderful dark fruit and toasty oak aromas introduce a
broad, bold palate of lush dark cherry and blackberry
flavors. You'll love its wonderful depth and elegance. The
Robert Pecota "Kara's Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon

Third Thursday Wine Class June 21st - Summer Wines

up today for our Third Thursday Wine Class -
taking place on the very first day of Summer, this month's
topic is Summer Wines. We'll be looking at a
number of our favorite examples of what works for Summer -
whites, reds and rosés - and why these wines work so well at
this time of year.
In the spirit of full disclosure, this class will be taught
by Barbara Rooks, so the wines will be her favorites! The
class starts at 6:30 PM, June 21st, and will
end about 7:45. The cost is $20
for CAP members and $25 for
non-members. |
