Provenance Sauvignon Blanc

Provenance SauvignonEvery once in a while I'll taste a wine that is so "varietally-correct" I just have to tell everyone to try it. The wine is Provenance Sauvignon Blanc 2005 from Rutherford vineyards in the Napa Valley. This elegant and classy dry white starts with a mild, clean, slightly grassy nose. The rich, viscous mouth feel is crisp. A wonderful aftertaste that is herbaceous, but not at all to strong, is refreshing and light. "93 points. A supple, sumptuous, caressing style, with a silky texture and layers of rich yet elegant lemon-lime, ginger, pear and hazelnut. Beautifully balanced. Deep yet subtle. Refreshing, lively and persistent. Drink now." - Wine Spectator. Our sale price is only $16.97 per bottle. Don't miss this one!

Longbranch Bloody Mary Zinger

LongbranchBe sure to stop by the store this Saturday, March 31, to sample the Longbranch Bloody Mary Zinger. The fantastic recipe for this drink was invented by Kitty and Matt Horne, longtime Wilmette residents. Once you try it you won't buy anything else. Join us and meet Kitty and Matt between 11 AM and 5 PM for a free sample. The Longbranch Bloody Mary Zinger sells for $3.99 per liter.
Colognole Chianti Rufina 2003

If you're looking for a nice, medium- to light-bodied Chianti for warm weather drinking you should put at the top of your list the Colognole Chianti Rufina 2003. This Sangiovese is from the vineyards just north of

Florence. I enjoy this wine because it shows more fruit than most Chiantis and it is less acidic. At $12.97 per bottle it's a perfect red wine for Spring and Summer sipping. Buy this one by the case.

2UPSign Up for the Wine Class

Have you made plans yet for April 19? If not that's good because our Third Thursday Wine Class is that night from 6:30 until 7:45. For only $25 the class will cover Pinot Noirs from around the world. $20 for CAP members. Call the store and sign-up now.

Mer Soleil Chardonnay is Back in Stock

Mer SoleilChardonnay lovers rejoice! One of California's best white wines is back in stock. It's the 2004 vintage of Mer Soleil from Charlie Wagner, II. He describes this vintage as "stellar" with virtually no risk of rain during the growing season. He got perfect fruit to work with. Charlie also calls this wine "layered". Since first planting this back in 1988 Charlie uses multiple clones of Chardonnay and the vines are set on three different trellis systems for maximum fruit ripeness. "Mer Soleil's signature includes aromas of tropical fruit (mango, honeysuckle and citrus) with notes of toasted spice (clove and nutmeg). In the mouth the flavors follow through seamlessly, fulfilling the promise of the aromas and balancing the ripe fruit with the acidity that is the hallmark of this cool-climate growing area. The texture is mouth filling, lush and dense. The finish is long and polished yet powerful". -- Charlie Wagner, II. Our sale price is $39.97 per bottle.
